It’s Basketball Time

This week, our city plays host to two annual Holiday Basketball Tournament’s.  The Boys tournament is the Mike Kehoe Great 8, which I have been involved with for 12 years now, and has seen 61 different teams from 11 different States.   The Lady’s will play in the Unilever Lady Jays Classic, showcasing 8 teams from Missouri and other neighboring states.  Games begin Monday December 28th and go through Wednesday the 30th (click the image to the left and get all the details).  These tournaments go off without a hitch, and they have become know as the premier High School basketball tournaments in the Mid-West.   It’s a great time of the year for Jefferson City to “show it’s stuff” as we will have thousands of visitors in town to see some of the best boys and girls basketball games you’ll find.  Our city does a great job, but the volunteers who organize this event and put in more hours than most will ever know are the ones who deserve the credit – great people who work hard to put on a great event.  They are a class act.  The 3 days of activity also show off many corporate sponsors who help make this event the success it is – from local hotels, to restaurants, to banks, and yes, even a car dealer.  A proud Ford, Lincoln/Mercury car dealer i might add.  Come check out the games and events during the tournament – even of you don’t like basketball, you will enjoy the time you spend at these games.  I’ll bet my name on it.
